About the 2020 season and Covid-19: Currently the Ski Lifts are closed until at least 19 August although the Resort remains open. For the latest from the Mt Hotham Resort Management Board, click here and scroll down to Latest News section.
Unfortunately, due to the Vic Government moving to stage 3 restrictions for Melbourne, Marouka lodge is unable to open as planned on July 10th. At this juncture we are unsure if the lodge will be able to open at all, however we are hopeful that we can open once restrictions cease, currently scheduled for 19th August. We will be following government guidelines, please refer to the website for further information and current updates: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.
In line with these circumstances, all current bookings are to be cancelled, with full refunds being provided to all guests. Membership fees paid for 2020 can be either refunded or rolled over to 2021 as required for corporate or associate members who are not able to use the lodge in 2020.
We are planning on reopening the booking system to accept new bookings for dates after 19th August once we have updated and confirmed information from the resort, lift company and Vic government. When opened, all bookings should be considered tentative, as we may need to cancel them in the future. Payments should not be made at this time, guests will be contacted for payment two weeks prior to their booking if we are able to open.
There may be some opportunity for foundation members living outside the Melbourne area to stay at the lodge while it is closed. This will be limited to one concurrent group, and the member will be required to take on both general lodge manager and covid 19 specific responsibilities on behalf of their group. All government guidelines will need to be followed, as detailed in the Marouka Lodge covid 19 operating manual and relevant government communications. Any members wanting to volunteer for this should contact the booking officer to schedule.
The Marouka committee apologises for these circumstances beyond our control, and will endeavour to keep all members and guests updated as events progress. There are many procedural requirements and regulations to be met for the lodge to open. A Safe Operating Plan has been developed to enable the lodge to open under the current situation and regulations. Click here for a copy of the Operating Plan.
