More beds for singles from 2018 !

An additional bed for individual booking has been installed in Room 7 to accommodate more people that are staying on their own.

The bunk beds (no 2 and 3) are now king single size so, if using these, you will need to bring either king single sheets or double bed sheets in order to fit the mattress.

Hello everyone, My apologies over the delay in opening the Winter Season 2018 bookings. Our earlier advice was Foundation Members could book from the 15th Feb 18. I will advise a revised date as soon as we resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience. Best Regards, Jim Renwick President

Harrietville Fire (2013) Photo by Timothy Heuchen

The Mt Hotham Dinner Plain Fire Brigade is our volunteer CFA brigade. In recent years they have fought many difficult fires in our high country. We need them to be well-equipped.

They urgently need to purchase a new forward control and command vehicle, a dual cab 4x4 tray back which will be fitted with communications gear and a custom rear pod. They have had to call for donations.

On behalf of the Marouka Lodge membership, the Committee has made a substantial donation. We encourage other lodges, accommodation providers and mountain users to pitch in generously.

Since a public notice isn't available yet, we are happy to pass on details about how to donate.

From Membership Secretary Jillian, we have the Marouka 2017 Associate Membership Application Form and cover letter available for download. Also, and especially for non-digital natives, we have the Marouka March 2017 Newsletter (mailed to non-email holders). Click those links, or find them under Available Documents in the left sidebar of our Marouka Lodge website.

The new roof is finally on with good insulation to keep us toasty warm. Bring on winter!

The priority booking period for Foundation Members opens 01 March. Associate Members may book starting 01 April, with public opening following on 15 April.

Note that we have reversed the upstairs rooms. Room 7 will become the bunk room where beds are booked individually. Room 8 will become the premium room for a couple, more removed from lounge-room noise.

With the roof work complete, Building Officer Victor Nanut has set member work parties for the weekends of 4-5 18-19 March and 25-26 March, as well as a final clean-up in late May to be announced. A substantial list of maintenance tasks needs to be completed. This email address is being protected from spambots. NFP Treasurers' Awards

Congratulations to our Belinda Knight, one of three national winners of the 2016 Commonwealth Bank Not-for-Profit Treasurers' Award!

According to the sponsor, the winners identified "ideas around recruiting and retaining treasurers, keeping treasurers up-to-date and sharing changes which they implemented to make things easier for their organisation based on challenges they had experienced."

The award is especially significant considering there were over 2000 submissions recognising the commitment of community treasurers around the country.

Belinda attended a ceremony in Sydney on 20 September where she received a cash award on behalf of the club.

As Treasurer, Belinda "focuses on ensuring that the lodge is run sustainably and provides an accessible, comfortable and friendly environment at an economical price to members and the broader public."

"This award reinforces to me that I am a member of a passionate, supportive and community based club that provides great value to its members."

Little Higgi marker in snow

Thanks to excellent run grooming and snowmaking, the snow will persist well into September. There are beds available at Marouka!

It's Green at Marouka!

The lodge is available for summer use by members and accompanied guests. Recreational groups are also invited to stay at the lodge on weekends. Please contact the Booking Officer directly to make arrangements, as the booking system is locked except for events like Cool Summer Festival and Easter.

Geocaching event

Over a late November weekend, Ron (on right) hosted a geocaching event at Marouka. Over thirty guests from as far away as Port Macquarie attended, most staying overnight. While some took the easy car option, others trekked or cycled up from Harrietville. Everyone thought the lodge facilities were perfectly suited to summer recreation in the high country.
