Marouka Lodge provides shared accommodation for its members and guests in the alpine area of Mount Hotham. It is a non-smoking, family-oriented environment. A resident Lodge Manager assists guests and helps everything run smoothly. Here are the facilities that will help make your stay enjoyable:
The lounge area has magnificent views across to Mt Loch and up Swindlers valley to Mt Feathertop. Join other members and guests in conversation on the comfortable couches. A gas heater will keep you warm even during the worst storms. Sliding doors open to a large verandah. Television is not available.
Kitchen & Dining
You need to provide for your own meals in the communal kitchen. Consider planning group meals and bringing up suitable supplies from home. The kitchen is well equipped with microwaves, gas stoves and ovens and a large glass-front refridgerator. Crockery, cutlery and glassware are provided, as well as an assortment of pots, pans and the most common kitchen gadgets. There are cupboards for food storage under the kitchen benches, labelled by room number. Fruit, vegetables and beer are usually stored on shelves just inside the rear exit door.
The dining tables are adjacent to the kitchen along the front windows for an excellent view as you enjoy your meals.
Food supplies and drinks are available (but not cheaply) at shops located in the General Store and Hotham Central. There are also several restaurants to try out at Mt Hotham and down the road at Dinner Plain.
Marouka Lodge can accommodate 28 people in eight bedrooms. There are two premium rooms with ensuites and a third premium room in the loft. A second room in the loft contains two individually-booked beds. Hydronic heat is supplied to each room. Pillows and doonas are provided, but you should bring your own pillow cases and sheets.
Young children are welcome at Marouka Lodge. There is a portable cot for children who are 2 years or under, who stay without charge.
All bookings are made per individual bed night.
On the main level are shared bathrooms with showers, one each for male and female. Two premium rooms have ensuite facilities. There is a bathroom with shower in the loft. There is also a shower and toilet near the entrance, adjacent to a washing machine and dryer.
Bring your own soap, shampoo and towels.
Entrance, Drying and Storage
The entrance door has an electronic security code to keep equipment safe—you will get the code when you book your accommodation. We have not experienced difficulties with security.
A drying room off the entry foyer provides storage for boots and shoes, and wire racking to hang outerwear. Street shoes are not to be worn upstairs.
Racks are provided in the entrance foyer for skis and snowboards. There is also a utility room with a workbench and storage for members.
When you arrive, you can park temporarily at the side of the main road where Marouka Lodge is located, to unload your vehicle. Then you must park your car overnight at least 1 km down the road towards Dinner Plain. In the designated areas, you may back your car in at the side of the road. There is also a sequence of overnight carparks. The Hotham Village Transport busses run regularly to collect you and bring you back up to Marouka Lodge, alight at Jack Frost stop.
At the end of your stay at Marouka Lodge, follow the reverse procedure!
