Booking and Cancellation Rules

Here is a summary.

There are eight bedrooms in our lodge. Most rooms are booked whole and require a minimum occupancy when booking. All bookings are paid by individual bed-night. The rates for premium rooms #2 and #5 (with ensuites) and loft room #7 are 25% over the standard rates.  

Room #8 is booked by bed. Choose this room if you are visiting solo.

Sleeping bags are not permitted in Marouka Lodge under any circumstances. Doonas and pillows are provided for you. Please bring your own bottom sheet, pillowcases and either a top sheet or a doona cover. Please bring your own towels.

Marouka is a club lodge with shared facilities. Prepare your own meals in the communal kitchen—each room is allocated a kitchen cupboard for storing food. A large refrigerator is provided with shelves allocated by room. You are expected to clean up after yourself in the kitchen and eating area.

Leave your bedroom as neat as you found it. We also request that you pitch in with a vacuum cleaner or other task at the end of your stay—see the suggestions on the back of your bedroom door.

Our Booking Officer is a volunteer. You can make his or her life infinitely easier if you book and pay online. We offer an online booking system with secure online credit card payment via PayPal. We have tried to make it simple for you to do. If you book and pay online, your booking is immediately confirmed.

If you are a Foundation or Associate Member of Marouka Lodge, make sure you remember to log in to the booking system before you start. That way, many fields will be pre-filled for you. Also, member rates are only available to you if you are logged in AND your account is paid up.

When using the booking system, note that all dates refer to nights stayed at Marouka. Unlike a calender, the weekend nights shown on the booking grid are Friday and Saturday. Midweek nights are Sunday to Thursday, which are discounted by 25%. Also remember that off-peak season rates are set at about 33% discount—check your dates.

Each booking is for a particular number of beds over a continuous number of days. If you have party members coming or going during your whole stay, then you will need to make separate bookings for each of those intermediate periods, to avoid paying for unused beds. Multi-family bookings should each be done separately, so that changes and cancellations can be handled more easily if necessary.

A Foundation Member is permitted to book up to 3 accompanying guests using the Foundation Member Guest rate. For additional guests in the party, or if the Member never attends during their stay, they must pay the Foundation Member Sponsored Guest rate (equivalent to the Associate rate).

Snow Guarantee - if the lift company stops its operations due to lack of snow, Marouka's rates will drop to summer rates even if you are already at Marouka. You will be refunded the difference.

During summer use, a Summer Manager, Foundation member or Senior Associate must be present. A minimum opening fee of $15 per night applies if a Lodge Manager is not in attendance. Exclusive use of Marouka during the summer season (except Christmas to New Year) can be arranged with the Booking Officer at a cost of $250 per night or $350 per night on a long weekend.
